INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE
- Aqua Best Seafood Market ships Monday-Thursday of each week
- Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
- Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping.
- Mussels ship fresh with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
- Keep refrigerated, enjoy within same day of arrival.
To Serve
Steaming Method
- When rinsing the mussels, it’s key to scrub the shells gently and remove any “beards” (the small fibers that may be sticking out).
- For the liquid, a splash of white wine or broth adds great flavor, but water will work too. You only need a little bit-enough to create steam, but not submerge the mussels.
- Once they’ve opened up (which usually takes around 4-6 minutes, depending on their size), they’re ready for the baking step.
Baking Method
- Preheating the oven to 400°F-450°F ensures the mussels cook fast and the topping crisps up nicely.
- Be mindful of the mussels’ texture. The goal is a crispy topping while keeping the mussels tender, so don’t bake them for too long.
- Top with anything from melted garlic butter to breadcrumbs, cheese, or herbs-experiment with what you enjoy!
