Sliced Soft Salami

Liebman’s soft salami is the milder, yielding counterpart to the hard – sliced from the kosher deli counter at the last Jewish deli standing in the Bronx, where Yuval Dekel has kept the 1953 recipes intact since taking over in 2002. Anthony Bourdain came to Liebman’s on West 235th Street in Riverdale for Parts Unknown in 2014; the deli’s survival in a borough where over 100 kosher delis once operated is a story the soft salami is a quiet part of.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• Liebman’s Deli ships Monday through Friday of each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Meats are frozen and shipped with ice packs which may thaw partially or fully during transit
• Upon arrival, place the meat in the refrigerator or freezer to serve later
• Allow meat to thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or on a countertop before serving
• To serve, follow the instructions below

Heating Instructions

• Remove desired amount and place on microwave safe dish. Microwave for 15 seconds until completely he did through.
• Also try tightly wrapping desired amount in plastic wrap and gently steam until hot and tender.

Note: Some salamis may be coated in a thin layer of white mold. This is a good thing! It’s added during the curing process to protect the salami from unsafe mold growth, to keep the salami from drying out, and to help mellow out the salami’s flavor. You’re welcome to remove the casing, but it’s completely safe to eat.
