Description

This Officially Licensed Super Bowl LIX Tailgate Kit features the world-famous original “All-Madden” Turducken from Louisiana’s Gourmet Butcher Block, made famous by none other than John Madden himself! This taste of the Big Easy also includes a King Cake from Haydel’s Bakery, Loretta’s sweet pecan pralines, Cafe du Monde Beignet Mix, Pat O’Brien’s Hurricane Mix (just add rum!), Central Grocery Olive Salad (add cream cheese & sour cream for the ultimate dip), and Officially Licensed Super Bowl LIX branded plates, souvenir cups, napkins, and a tablecloth perfect for a party of 6-8!

The Turducken is a true culinary masterpiece, and the stuff that legends are made of. Today it’s well-known as the most jaw-dropping holiday centerpiece in existence, but it was just a little-known Louisiana specialty before December 1, 1996, when broadcaster John Madden was presented with one before a Rams-Saints game. Madden immediately fell in love, praising it repeatedly throughout the broadcast and continuing to sing its praises on-air for years to come. The man who presented Madden with this Turducken was Glenn Mistich, who invented it along with his wife Leah, and you have in your possession the exact same one, from their Cajun meat market called Gourmet Butcher Block. Dubbed the “All-Madden” Turducken, it’s a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken, all meticulously deboned, layered with both sausage stuffing and cornbread dressing, and carefully tied up. Weighing in at 17 pounds, this New Orleans classic is a true icon of the food world, and it’s ready for you to roast, slice, and serve!

Kits ship February 3-6 only to arrive by game day.

To Serve

Turducken – To Cook From Thawed (Preferred)

  • To thaw, take the Turducken out of the box but leave it in its bag. It will take four to five days to completely defrost in your refrigerator, so plan ahead!
  • Preheat the oven to 375° F.
  • Place Turducken into a roasting pan with the thread facing up, cover with foil, and bake for 4 hours.
  • Uncover and bake for 1 hour until golden brown; it’s safe to eat once all layers of poultry and stuffing reach 165° F.
  • Once cooked, let the Turducken cool for at least 20 minutes. Remove the thread, and then remove the leg tendons by pushing a fork into the end of each leg and twisting slightly. Cut the entire Turducken crosswise through the middle to reveal all the layers before slicing and serving!

Turducken – To Cook From Frozen

  • Preheat oven to 300° F.
  • Place Turducken into a roasting pan with the thread facing up and add two cups of water to the pan. Cover with foil and bake for 11 hours and 30 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake for an additional half hour until golden brown; it’s safe to eat once all layers of poultry and stuffing reach 165 F.
  • Once cooked, let the Turducken cool for at least 20 minutes. Remove the thread, and then remove the leg tendons by pushing a fork into the end of each leg and twisting slightly. Cut the entire Turducken crosswise through the middle to reveal all the layers before slicing and serving!

King Cake
This king cake isn’t just a dessert – enjoy it any time of day as breakfast, a snack, or coffee cake!

  • Remove the king cake and frosting from the refrigerator and leave them at room temperature for 3 hours prior to serving.
  • Give the icing a stir and spread it evenly across top of the cake.
  • Sprinkle the colored sugars in stripes across top of the cake. Be sure to do this quickly, before the icing sets.
  • That’s it! Now slice the cake and see who finds the baby!

Beignet Mix

  • Mix in bowl 2 cups mix and 7 fl. oz. water. Stir with spoon until blended.
  • Roll to 1/8″ thickness on floured surface, using flour liberally on dough.
  • Cut into 2 1/4″ squares. Makes about 2 dozen.
  • Fry 1-2″ of oil at 370° F basting continually on each side until puffy and light golden. Drain well. (Oil should be hot enough for dough to pop to surface in 8-10 seconds.)
  • Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar and enjoy!

Olive Salad

  • Olive Salad is ready to enjoy right out of the jar! Or add cream cheese & sour cream to serve with your favorite chips.

Hurricane Drink Mix

  • Get a glass that holds 28 oz.
  • Add 4 oz. of Hurricane Rum or a good Amber/Gold Rum.
  • Add 4 oz. of Hurricane Mix.
