Brisket & Latkes Kit for 6

A knife-and-fork affair: freshly sliced housemade brisket layered between crispy potato latkes, topped with a spoonful of applesauce and finished with au jus, mushroom gravy, or both, serving six. It reinvents the sandwich with two deli icons at once. Harry Rosen opened Junior’s in Brooklyn in 1950, and the Rosen family still runs it from the same corner using his recipes. Perfect for a Hanukkah table or a hearty family dinner.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• Junior’s Restaurant ships Monday- Wednesday of each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii will incur an additional $35 charge for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Kit ships frozen with ice packs, may thaw in transit
• May be kept refrigerated for 5 days or frozen for up to 1 month
• If you add cheesecakes, they can be refrigerated for up to 5 days (preferably in an airtight container) or frozen for up to 6 months.

To Serve

Sliced Meat

• STOVE TOP: THE JUNIOR’S WAY
  • Unwrap sliced meat from the wax paper
  • Bring water to a boil in either a large pot with a steamer basket or a double boiler
  • Place foil-wrapped sliced meat in the pot and steam for 5 minutes
• MICROWAVE: ALTERNATIVE METHOD
  • Unwrap sliced meat from wax paper and foil
  • Heat for 2 minutes

Latkes

• Heat from thawed
• Preheat oven to 350
• Place on a baking sheet lined with foil
• Bake 20 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and heated through

Mushroom Gravy

• Heat in a saucepan on medium-low heat until warm

Au Jus

• Heat in a saucepan on medium-low heat until warm

Apple Sauce

• Fully defrost in the refrigerator

Assembly

• Have a knife and fork ready! This is not your traditional sandwich
• Placed sliced meat between two potato pancakes or on top of one for an open-faced sandwich
• Add or dip into the apple sauce, mushroom gravy, and/or au jus

Mini Cheesecakes

• Defrost in the refrigerator overnight or leave on counter 3-4 hours before serving
• Once thawed, gently pop each cheesecake out by lightly pressing underneath ‘the cup’ that each cake sits in.
