Schmidt’s Sausage Haus ships its legendary sausage nationwide on Goldbelly! The Bahama Mama is a creation from this German meat packing family who possesses over 120 years of sausage-making experience. The Bahama Mama is a fully cooked natural hickory-smoked sausage made from specially selected lean cuts of beef and pork, blended with Schmidt’s secret spice pack formulation. The Bahama Mama is a natural casing Old World product. The spice level is moderate so as not to hide the flavor of the quality cuts of beef and pork used. Knockwurst: Another tasty creation from the Schmidt’s Packing Company’s German recipe book! These knockers are made from the same select cuts of beef and pork as the Bahama Mama. This is an Old World natural casing sausage with the perfect blend of special seasoning and a hint of garlic.

J. Fred Schmidt opened his eponymous meat packing house in 1886 in the heart of Columbus’s German Village, quickly becoming Central Ohio’s most well-known name in the meat industry. In 1967, J. Fred’s grandson, George F. Schmidt, opened the company’s first restaurant just around the corner from the meat packing plant. Using sausage recipes from the packing days and dessert recipes from the German ladies hired to run the kitchen, Schmidt’s Sausage Haus became an instant success and today, four generations later, it’s a Columbus landmark known for its legendary Bahama Mama sausages and giant cream puffs. Schmidt’s has been featured on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The restaurant’s Bahama Mama sausage was voted the Official Food of Columbus, Ohio!

Each package serves between 20-25 people and includes:

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• As each shipment is made to order, Schmidt’s ships Monday-Wednesday each week
• No deliveries on Saturday, Sunday or Monday
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge. Sorry guys!
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via overnight will incur an additional $35 charge. Sorry guys!

• Kit ship frozen with ice packs, may thaw during transit.
• Upon arrival, store in the refrigerator or freezer.
• Sausages in original sealed packages can be re-frozen for up to 3 months, refrigerated for up to 1 month. Once opened sausages can be refrigerated for up to 1 week.

To Serve

Pan Fry

• Place links in a frying pan on medium heat, and turn links until both sides are brown and the casing is just beginning to split. (Internal temperature should be 150° F)
• Enjoy!

Broil

• Place links on a broiler pan on the middle rack of the oven.
• Broil turning frequently until both sides are brown and the casing is just beginning to split. (Internal temperature should be 150° F)

Outdoor Grill

• Use low heat for gas grills or indirect grills for charcoal grills.
• Cook until both sides are browned and the casing is just beginning to split. (Internal temperature should be 150° F)
