Signature Empanada Sampler

The Comfort Foodies Signature Empanada Sampler: beef and cheese, chicken and cheese, oxtail, and spinach and cheese – all four handcrafted empanadas from the Houston, Texas Dominican-Caribbean and Southern fusion restaurant Afro-Latina chef Elsa Matthews and husband Jeff launched as a food truck in 2020. Every filling a different expression of the Latin Caribbean soul food tradition that made Comfort Foodies a neighborhood favorite before the brick-and-mortar opened in 2022.

Empanada Flavors Include

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• Comfort Foodies ships Tuesday-Thursday of each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Empanadas ship frozen with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
• Upon arrival, store empanadas in the freezer for up to 3 months.
• Keep frozen until ready to cook. Do not refreeze once thawed.

To Serve

• Fry (Recommended)
  • Allow the desired amount of Empanadas, to thaw in the refrigerator or countertop for 1-2 hours & remove from plastic packaging
  • Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat (350°F).
  • Fry the empanadas in the hot oil for approximately 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown, remembering to flip them halfway through the cooking time.
  • After frying, place the empanadas on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
  • Let the empanadas cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Enjoy!

Note: To achieve optimal flavor, empanadas can also be prepared in an air fryer! Avoid microwaving the empanadas.
