Brooklyn Blackout Cake

Named for the WWII blackout drills that shuttered every light in Brooklyn to protect the Navy Yard – and mourned for decades after Ebinger’s Bakery, its originator, closed in 1972 – the Brooklyn Blackout Cake returns here from the Navy Yard itself. Brooklyn Blackout Company builds it true to form: layers of dark devil’s food cake, chocolate pudding filling, chocolate buttercream, and the distinctive chocolate crumb coating that made every Ebinger’s box a neighborhood event. INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• The Brooklyn Blackout Company ships Monday through Friday each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Cake ships frozen with dry ice.
• Dry ice may dissipate in transit, product may thaw.
• Do not remove dry ice with bare hands.
• Upon arrival, store cake in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
• Cake may be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or up to 2 months in the freezer.

To Serve

• Remove plastic wrap and collar while cake is still frozen to ensure icing stays intact.
• Keep covered in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to thaw.
• Let cake sit at room temperature for 2 hours to allow icing to soften.
• Slice, serve, and enjoy!
