St-Viateur Bagel has been hand-rolling sesame bagels in Montreal’s Mile End since Myer Lewkowicz – a Buchenwald survivor turned bagel baker – opened his shop on St-Viateur West in 1957, and the recipe hasn’t changed once. Each bagel goes honey-water boiled, sesame-coated, then into the wood-fired oven until the crust cracks golden and the inside pulls dense and just sweet enough – a texture and flavor profile that has no true equivalent outside Montreal. The New York Times called them “Bagels like none other,” and the line outside the door at 3 a.m. makes the same argument.

- St-Viateur Bagel ships Tuesday each week
- No deliveries Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday
- Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
- Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

- Bagels stay fresh at room temperature in a sealed bag for up to four days
- To store frozen, slice in half, and then freeze in an airtight freezer-safe plastic bag for up to two months.
To Serve
- To enjoy bagels long term, they recommend slicing your bagels in half, sealing them in a freezer-safe plastic bag, and keeping them frozen until ready to eat.
- When you want a bagel, simply put one straight from the freezer into your toaster until you have a warm bagel ready for you to enjoy!
