Description
Comfort Foodies’ handcrafted oxtail empanadas: rich, slow-braised oxtail meat in a flaky golden crust – the most distinctive empanada from the Houston, Texas Dominican-Caribbean and Southern fusion concept Afro-Latina chef Elsa Matthews and her husband Jeff launched as a food truck in 2020. Oxtail is one of the most beloved dishes on the Comfort Foodies menu; the empanada version puts it in your hand.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE
- Comfort Foodies ships Tuesday-Thursday of each week
- Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
- Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!
- Empanadas ship frozen with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
- Upon arrival, store empanadas in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Keep frozen until ready to cook. Do not refreeze once thawed.
To Serve
- Fry (Recommended)
- Allow the desired amount of Empanadas, to thaw in the refrigerator or countertop for 1-2 hours & remove from plastic packaging
- Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat (350°F).
- Fry the empanadas in the hot oil for approximately 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown, remembering to flip them halfway through the cooking time.
- After frying, place the empanadas on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
- Let the empanadas cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy!
Note: To achieve optimal flavor, empanadas can also be prepared in an air fryer! Avoid microwaving the empanadas.
